Graduate – Blessed Agbaje

Sheworks Africa 2022 Program – Cohort 1.0 began in July and Blessed Agbaje is one of the participants who was awarded a scholarship after the judges closely assessed her application. She is the founder of Benita Interiors & Decor; an interior decoration company that specializes in general home and space improvement. The construction industry is male-dominated but she has made an effort to learn the processes to be able to assess her customers’ needs and recommend what’s best for them. Benita means ‘Blessed’ and as the founder, together with her company lived to their name by being among the 15 participants awarded, Blessed received yet another opportunity in Lagos and had to relocate from Ibadan immediately. Since Sheworks Africa is an online program implemented by Nyayo Moms Sokos in collaboration with kayana, Blessed decided to take both challenges; the physical job in Lagos as well as the online course. “My move from Ibadan to Lagos happened a few weeks into the Sheworks Africa Program and I challenged myself to keep up with the online training sessions,” says Blessed. “I’m glad I’m on board since I have been able to continue running my business back in Ibadan virtually, thanks to the digital skills that the program offers.”

Blessed is now on the lookout for business opportunities in this new city since she set up Benita Interiors & Decor in a way that it can run without her physical presence. She’s however open to traveling to Ibadan every once in a while to interact with her clients. Blessed Agbaje holds a leading position at her current place of work and therefore not available to attend all the weekly Passport To Business online sessions. She can however access the session recordings and catch up with the course. The online platform is also designed in a way that the women can take their modules at their pace and the end of every part, receive certification. We aim to be able to accommodate the women who run businesses and at the same time are on 8 to 5 jobs. Blessed is one of our success stories.
