Meet The Participant: Euphy Ngami – The Flower Shop Nyeri Kenya.

In 2020, COVID-19 Pandemic hit the entire world causing people’s lives to take a 180-degree turn. Euphy Ngami was not spared. Kenya went through a lockdown period of almost half a year and she was not able to visit her mother who lives in Nyeri and periodically needed her. As soon as movement resumed, Ngami packed her bags, since her current business was not doing well anyway, and moved from the City to her hometown. She actually refers to herself as a ‘Covid Migrator’.

Euphy Ngami is the Founder of The Flower Shop Nyeri. She’s a unique supplier of flowers within Nyeri and its surrounding towns. She also provides Nyeri dwellers with bespoke event setups. Growing up in Nairobi gave Ngami a lot of exposure and this has really contributed to her current success since it’s given her an upper hand when it comes to digital stuff. She is a creative with over 15 years of experience in Design and Branding, both Above The Line (ATL) and Below The Line (BTL).

“When I was applying for Sheworks Africa Program, I was tempted to do so using the branding company but after doing my research on what the course entails, I decided to settle on the flowers business since this is a new one and needs lots of coaching,” She says. “Moreover, I’ve run several businesses since 2014 and made several mistakes in the process. This course has shown me where I didn’t put systems in place. If I follow the guidelines, I believe I’ll get it right this time around.”

Euphy Ngami has been working from home but after taking time to understand the buying culture of Nyeri people (physical location is a common inquiry on her digital posts), she’s now looking to open a storefront in a month with a huge display window. When asked whether she’d have wanted it any other way, this is what she had to say, “I miss a few things but no regrets at all!”

The Shop offers flowers for weddings, birthdays, valentine’s day, graduations, anniversaries, home and office decor, get-well-soon bouquets, funeral wreaths, and any other unique flower requests from clients.
