This week’s participant is Oluwaseyi Aibinuomo, founder of Shayze Creations Global Investment Ltd; a fashion outfit that produces Afrocentric wear for kids (0 -15 years) and working-class female adults (25-45 years). Its goal is to build a global brand that boosts the confidence of its clients with high-quality fashion pieces.
Although Shayze Creations was registered in 2014, it began its operations fully in 2016 when it opened a physical store. Oluwaseyi has kept this store running despite a few challenges here and there.
In 2020, Shayze Creations was affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic and Oluwaseyi was forced to move some of the stock to her house to avoid them getting damaged. She now operates from both locations; the store as well as her home.
Having her brand present on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp Business has really simplified her sales process and Sheworks Africa is currently guiding her on how to utilize these platforms and other digital marketing trends fully.
“I literally make sure that I have no appointments for Thursday afternoons because I wouldn’t want to miss even one class,” says Oluwaseyi. “This program has challenged me to read more.”
Oluwaseyi’s strategy keeps her product moving since she focuses on what is needed for the specific season. When organizing fashion shows and exhibitions, she goes by the current weather and thus thrives in both cold and hot seasons.
When asked about her next steps, Oluwaseyi had this to say, “I’ve been hoping to train kids on bag making, wig making, fashion and decoration and honestly Sheworks Africa kind of geared me up to start. It’s barely 2 months into this program and I’m happy to report that Shayze Creations is now on the 2nd week of training children (from 6 years) and teens (up to 18 years).”
