Meet the participant: Rachel Mbogo, Founder of Kweli Coffee | Founder of Murugi Sauces
Embu, Kenya.

Kweli Coffee value adds Kenyan agri-foods, by processing them and packaging them for the artisanal market. The coffee is handpicked in their Embu farms and taken through natural processing which involves sun-drying to ensure that the fruity flavors are retained. Murugi Sauces works with Kirinyaga farmers where the company buys tomatoes, and creates an organic herbed sauce with a shelf-life of 1 year through canning processing that can be used as a relish, sauce or marinade. This sauce is either in mild or hot & sweet form.

Rachel Murugi Mbogo is a lady who believes in impact creation through empowering women economically. She is a professional digital strategist and social media consultant. She partly grew up on a farm, which has been her source of inspiration in her business of adding value to the produce from her home.

“I’ve had my whole worldview expounded and feel equipped with the necessary skills to take me to the next level of scaling my businesses; from improving my systems to giving my customers a wholesome experience beyond the product,” says Murugi, as she shares with us her experience as a Cohort 1.0 participant in the ongoing Sheworks Africa 2022 Program.
